Some people like this for:

 nosy babies, warm weather, hip carries, sharing with another adult. Easy to narrow and widen. Simple design.  Lots of padding, fashionable fabrics

Some people don't like this: 
They can be hard to fold, long shoulder straps are not always a good fit for back carries if you're petite.  H style straps tend to suit broad shoulders better. 
Buckles/webbing may put pressure on adults breast tissue in the early days. 
the panel is often outgrown before baby reaches the maximum weight.
